About

Makmel is a dialogue between ancient craftsmanship and the sea.

The studio is founded on five generations of goldsmiths and designers, with Tal Makmel creating jewelry independently since 2007. Making by hand is not a concept or a statement here. It is the natural way things are done. Each piece is shaped slowly, with attention to material, proportion, and balance, guided by long familiarity with metal and process.

Makmel is led by Tal Makmel, working closely with her father, Zadok Makmel. Together they continue a living tradition. One that evolves through daily practice rather than preservation for its own sake. Knowledge is passed through hands, repetition, and time.

Tal grew up by the sea and among ancient cultures. These environments shaped her way of seeing and creating. Seashells, raw forms, and objects marked by time return throughout the collection, not as symbols, but as material experiences. Many of the shells used in the jewelry are cast from real ones collected during personal journeys, each connected to a specific place and moment in life.

Makmel jewelry is created with depth and presence, often revealing itself gradually. The pieces invite a personal relationship, formed through wearing, touch, and familiarity.

Each piece is made to be lived with

a personal treasure carrying craft, story, and continuity.
